Overview
The Mean Well UHP-1500-24 is a 1500W single-output AC-DC switching power supply designed for demanding industrial environments where space, thermal management, and reliability are all constrained. Its defining characteristic is the 41mm slim profile combined with a fully fanless, conduction-cooled thermal design — the unit transfers heat through its baseplate to a mounting surface or aluminum enclosure rather than relying on internal airflow. This makes it suitable for sealed enclosures, dust-laden environments, and vibration-intensive platforms where a fan would be a liability.
The supply operates across the full universal input range (90–264VAC / 47–63Hz) with active PFC (≥0.95 at 230VAC, ≥0.99 at 115VAC) and achieves up to 96% typical efficiency at 24V output. The output voltage is adjustable from 24V to 28.8V via the built-in potentiometer, and both output voltage and constant-current limit are remotely programmable via an analog control signal (0.4–4.7VDC), making it well suited to charging profiles, variable-load testing rigs, and voltage-margining applications. The unit includes built-in remote ON/OFF control, a DC-OK TTL signal, and a 12V/0.4A auxiliary output — all accessible from a single 12-pin connector (CN71).
Protection coverage includes short circuit (auto-recover after 5 seconds), overload via constant current limiting with shutdown, over voltage, and over temperature with automatic recovery. The UHP-1500-24 is rated for operation from −30°C to +70°C under convection cooling (with derating above 50°C) and carries certifications for UL62368-1, BS EN/EN62368-1, EAC TP TC 004, and CB. An optional PMBus or CANBus communication interface (UHP-1500-24PM / UHP-1500-24CAN) is available by request for applications requiring digital monitoring, trimming, or supervisory control.

Integration Notes
- Conduction cooling requires secure mechanical contact between the unit baseplate and a thermally conductive mounting surface. Mean Well recommends a 450 × 450mm aluminum plate (minimum) with a smooth or thermal-grease-coated surface; the unit must be centered on the plate.
- For forced-air applications, a 200mm fan delivering ≥40CFM directed across the fins allows full rated load at elevated ambient temperatures — consult the forced-air derating curve.
- Output voltage derating begins at approximately 50°C case temperature; above T2 (T1 + 5°C) the over-temperature protection will trigger auto shut-down. Monitor the DC-OK signal or case temperature in high-ambient installations.
- The PV and PC programming inputs are non-isolated and referenced to GND-signal (pins 3/4), which is tied to the negative output rail. Keep these signal leads short and away from power wiring to avoid noise coupling.
- The 12V-AUX output (pins 7/8) is not controlled by the Remote ON/OFF pin — it remains live whenever AC input is present. Account for this in safety-critical interlock designs.
- Inrush current at cold start is 60A @ 230VAC. Size upstream fusing and inrush-limiting NTCs accordingly; do not use standard slow-blow fuses rated below this peak.
- PMBus and CANBus variants (UHP-1500-24PM, UHP-1500-24CAN) are available by request; address selection is via the on-board DIP switch (A0/A1/A2). Confirm lead time before specifying these variants in production.
- The unit complies with EN61000-3-2 harmonic current limits — no external power factor correction hardware is required.
- MTBF is published at two standards (Telcordia SR-332 and MIL-HDBK-217F). Use the MIL-HDBK figure (56,700 hrs @ 25°C) for conservative qualification calculations.
