Overview
The Evapco Alcoil C1-18F28-C1000-01 is a brazed aluminum microchannel condenser coil custom-specified for KippKitts and manufactured by Evapco Alcoil, Inc. (York, PA). It uses a louvered-fin, flat-tube microchannel architecture — the same platform found in automotive A/C and high-efficiency commercial HVAC — delivering excellent heat rejection capacity in a compact, lightweight package. At just 7.8 lbs and under 2 inches deep, it is well-suited for space-constrained enclosures where a conventional round-tube plate-fin coil would be impractical.
This coil was selected and validated for use in a custom ~1 kW air-to-air heat pump assembly using R134a refrigerant. Its 650 psig design and test pressure also make it compatible with higher-pressure refrigerants including R410A, R32, and R454B blends — providing flexibility for derivative designs or future refrigerant transitions. The vertical coil orientation and built-in mini receiver (22.7 cu in) simplify system integration: the receiver handles charge management without requiring a separate component in the refrigerant circuit.
Mounting is handled by four included 1.5 × 1.5" L-brackets and 1/4-20 flush nuts and hex bolts, making the coil easy to panel-mount or frame-mount within a custom enclosure. The coil ships helium leak tested from Evapco Alcoil per their standard process. When paired with the Delta fan listed separately on KippKitts, this coil forms the air-side heat rejection assembly for the 1 kW heat pump platform.

Integration Notes
- Refrigerant IN/OUT orientation is mandatory. The coil must be piped exactly as shown in the product drawing for proper refrigerant distribution and mini-receiver function. Reversing the connections will result in poor performance.
- Built-in mini receiver. The 22.7 cu in integrated receiver provides system charge buffering without a separate component. Ensure liquid line sizing accounts for the receiver outlet (3/8" IDS connection).
- Copper sweat connections — protect the aluminum joint. When soldering the copper-to-copper stub connections, use a heat sink, heat sink compound, or wet cloth to keep the aluminum-to-copper joint below 90°F (500°C). Use phos-copper, silver solder, tin solder, or refrigerant-grade epoxy. Do not apply heat directly to the aluminum body.
- Aluminum sweat connections (if used in derivative designs): use Al/Zn braze alloy and keep braze temperature below 1100°F for copper-to-aluminum or aluminum-to-aluminum joints.
- Fan pairing. This coil is designed to be used with the Delta fan listed separately on KippKitts. Airflow direction, face velocity, and fan-to-coil clearance should be set per the heat pump assembly drawing. Adequate clearance on both the inlet and discharge sides is required to avoid recirculation.
- Vertical orientation required. The coil is specified for vertical installation (tubes horizontal, face vertical). Do not install horizontally — refrigerant distribution and mini-receiver function depend on the vertical orientation shown in the drawing.
- Refrigerant compatibility. While R134a is the validated application refrigerant, the 650 psig working pressure is compatible with R410A, R32, and R454B. Verify oil compatibility and system charge requirements independently if adapting this coil to a different refrigerant.
- Capacity data. Detailed performance curves (capacity vs. condensing temperature, airflow, subcooling) are not included in the published product drawing. Contact KippKitts or Evapco Alcoil directly for additional thermal performance data if required for your design analysis.
- MTBF/Life rating. No MTBF or L10 life data is specified in the published drawing. Contact Evapco Alcoil directly for long-life qualification data if required
